Child Protection

We, at Busy Bees Pre-school, are committed to providing an environment that every child can enjoy the right to live their life free from fear, harm or abuse and from potential harm or abuse. We are committed to the strengthening and support of families as being in the best interest of children.

At all times staff will remember that child protection is a matter that needs to be dealt with sensitively and in confidence. As a condition of employment, all staff who work at Busy Bees Pre-school are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. Visitors, volunteers (e.g. rota helpers) and students will not be left alone with the children. To safeguard staff from potential allegations of abuse they, too, will not be left alone with the children. Only the mobile phone and camera owned by Busy Bees may be used during the children’s sessions. Mobiles and cameras belonging to staff and visitors may not be used and should be stored securely with other personal possessions. We will use the Bristol Safeguarding Children’s Board (BSCB) and Bristol Children and Young Peoples Services (CYPS) Procedures and Guidance to further support us in the operation of our child protection policy.

This is so that children are kept safe.

EYFS

This statutory framework and guidance affirms that;

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s “school readiness” and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
